There are many aspects that need more attention when we have a side job. A side job is only a side activity that gives additional income. The basic income is from the main job. A side job sometimes supplies higher income from the main job. When a side job makes more money than the main job we do not have to quit from the main job. We will get double income. At the time our side job becomes a big business or gives more chance to enhance our career it is reasonable to quit from the main job. What we should possess to get double jobs are time management, and special skill.
Some people are good time organizers. We can assess if we belong to these groups or not. A side job needs time spending. How to manage the time between the main job and side job become the key of the success to have double jobs. The common office hour is from 9:00 AM to 04: 00 PM not including overtime work. There are still hours in the evening and on weekends. Time arrangement between office hours and side job hours is necessary. There is a part of the time to spend with family. Spending the side job on weekend will take the family time share.
I am an elementary teacher. I finish my work at 2:30 PM. I have a side job too. I teach private classes of English. Most of my private students are adult. I start my side job at 7:00 PM. I still have time with my family from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on work days. I sometimes have class on Sunday afternoon so that I still have time with my family on Sunday morning. What about you? I charge reasonable fee for my private class. It is about IDR 500.000,- or $ 50 per eight meetings. It is not low fee but is not high as well because there are some private teachers who charge more than $ 100 per eight meeting. To have a side job we need a special skill. Taking a course is a short cut to master a certain competence. Opening a hair salon at home is one of side job ideas. I think it suitable for a woman. There are many hair stylists who open courses. It is a good to take a course at a well-known course. Another way to be a skilled person is to be self man-made or self studied. The weakness of the method is that learning alone often loses motivation. Learning alone also need many resources such as books, equipments, and practices. Whatever the action to do to improve a certain skill will be a foundation to better future and life.
